Set in China, the novel follows Young Fu, an apprentice coppersmith in Chungking. The book was awarded the 1933 Newbery Medal and remains a notable work of early 20th-century children’s literature.
This copy retains its scarce illustrated dust jacket, featuring striking wraparound artwork by Kurt Wiese. The book includes numerous black-and-white illustrations as well as color artwork.

Vintage / Fair to Good. The original dust jacket shows substantial age-related wear, including edge chipping, tears, losses, staining, foxing and rubbing. Boards and page edges show wear consistent with age. Interior pages have toning and scattered foxing. Previous owner’s gift inscription on the front endpaper.
