Original-period 1965 Canadian mono pressing of France Gall’s classic Philips LP, commonly known as Poupée de cire, poupée de son.
Released during the height of the French yé-yé era, the album features the Serge Gainsbourg-penned “Poupée de cire, poupée de son”, France Gall’s 1965 Eurovision-winning song, along with another Gainsbourg favourite, “Laisse tomber les filles.” The album was originally released in April 1965 under Philips catalogue B 77.728 L.
This copy is particularly interesting for Canadian collectors. The blue Philips label is marked “Made in Canada,” while the jacket states “Distribué au Canada par London Records of Canada Ltd.”
The jacket retains much of its original shrink wrap, although the record has been opened and played. A collectible early France Gall LP with strong appeal to fans of French pop, Serge Gainsbourg, Eurovision and 1960s yé-yé.
