Antique 1891 American edition of Told After Supper by Jerome K. Jerome, author of Three Men in a Boat. Published in New York by Henry Holt and Company in the same year as the book’s original publication.
This Victorian collection of humorous supernatural and ghost stories features 96 or 97 illustrations by Kenneth M. Skeaping, including striking full-page black-and-white artwork.
Bound in its original decorative red cloth with gilt lettering and black illustrated decoration to the front board. An especially attractive example of late-19th-century illustrated book design.
A handwritten former-owner inscription on the front endpaper is dated January 12, 1894, adding period provenance.
This is an early 1891 American edition / First American Edition, not the London Leadenhall Press first edition.

Condition
Antique condition with notable wear. Original decorative binding remains visually appealing, but there is significant wear and splitting/loss at the top of the spine. Boards show rubbing, staining, spotting and edge/corner wear. Interior pages show age toning, scattered foxing and staining consistent with a book more than 130 years old.
The illustrated pages shown remain clear and attractive. No dust jacket. Please review all photographs carefully for the exact condition.
